Frequently asked questions

What types of knit fabric do you produce?

GARVETTI supplies performance fabrics for cycling, running and activewear, including moisture-wicking mesh, jacquard knits, nylon-spandex interlock, lightweight rib, high-stretch warp knits and thermal fleece. We also offer stretch wovens, PU/TPU membrane laminates and anti-slip elastic bands. Share your garment panel and requirements so we can recommend suitable options.

What weight range do you work in?

The current catalogue spans nominal weights of approximately 55–410 g/m², with tolerances specified by fabric code. Examples include PSC2613 at 55±5 g/m², ZT555 mesh at 100±5 g/m², SN2302 at 240±10 g/m² and PSZ2771 at 410±15 g/m². Choose weight together with season, garment panel, coverage and insulation needs.

What yarns do you use?

Our main fibre systems are polyester, nylon and spandex, with functional yarns selected for the application. For example, ZS727 contains 66% moisture-wicking polyester, 22% polyester and 12% spandex; SN2302 contains 59% nylon and 41% spandex. Laminated fabrics list face and backing compositions separately; refer to the selected fabric code.

Should I choose single jersey or interlock?

Compare them by weight, stretch, handfeel and the coverage required in the finished garment; construction alone does not determine thickness. GARVETTI's FQK001/1600 is a lightweight interlock at 120±10 g/m², while FQK004/1600 is 200±10 g/m². Both list moisture-wicking performance. Include mesh options if low weight and ventilation are priorities.

Where is rib fabric used?

Rib fabrics are commonly used where stretch and close fit are needed. GARVETTI's ZN454 nylon-spandex rib contains 71% nylon and 29% spandex, weighs 80±5 g/m² and is listed for cycling jerseys and bib-strap connection panels. For cuffs or hems that need grip, consider anti-slip bands such as F101 or F102.

What is the difference between two-thread and three-thread fleece?

Two-thread and three-thread generally describe yarn arrangements in terry knitting, while brushing raises fibres into a fleece surface; they are different specifications. Thermal options include PSCC2023008 fine-grid fleece at 220±10 g/m² and PSZ2617, a laminate with high-density single-sided fleece at 160±15 g/m². Send a swatch for construction confirmation.

Which net and mesh structures do you produce?

Options include ZT555 grid mesh (100±5 g/m²), ZT555-1 grid mesh (110±5), ZS364 crystal-ball mesh (95±5), ZT556 round-chain mesh jacquard (80±5) and ZX2502 chain-mesh jacquard (100±5). Compare opening pattern, coverage under stretch, printing requirements and garment panel. ZD2212 air-layer waffle is a separate thermal construction.

When is Raschel (warp knitting) the right choice?

A suitable warp knit can work well for cycling shorts that require stretch, coverage and abrasion resistance. ZS158 is a dense high-stretch warp knit with 73% nylon and 27% spandex, at 280±5 g/m² and 135 cm wide. Raschel is one type of warp knitting, not a name for all warp knits. Send specific requirements or a swatch for confirmation.

Is there an rPET version of your fabrics?

ZT717-1 is listed with 88% recycled Coolmax® polyester and 12% Lycra® spandex, at 125±5 g/m² and 165 cm wide. It is intended for cycling jerseys and activewear, with moisture-wicking and digital transfer printing listed. Ask us to confirm eligible styles and documents such as GRS certification or a Transaction Certificate; recycled content is not assumed for every fabric.

Can we get a sample before ordering?

You can request samples before placing a bulk order. Please provide fabric codes, intended use, colour preference and delivery country. Use physical samples to assess handfeel, stretch, thickness, colour and print appearance. Sample size, quantity, charges, shipping costs and dispatch timing are confirmed for each request.

How do we set the elastane (spandex) ratio?

Choose the spandex ratio together with garment panel, construction, weight, stretch force and recovery needs; a higher percentage is not automatically better. GARVETTI examples range from 7% in ZS364 mesh and 13% in ZT555 mesh to 29% in FQK004/1600 interlock and 41–42% in SN2302/SN2303 cycling-shorts fabrics. Evaluate samples for stretch, recovery and fit.

What is the fabric width, and does it come tubular or open-width?

Width is specified by fabric code: ZS364 is listed at 190 cm, ZT555 at 125 cm, FQK004/1600 at 160 cm and PSZ2617 at 142 cm. Anti-slip bands have separate widths. Please state your usable cutting width and whether you require open-width or tubular delivery so we can confirm the supply format.

How is shrinkage behaviour controlled?

Shrinkage and dimensional stability depend on the fabric, colour, processing route and wash conditions; there is no single figure for every style. Share your care procedure, test method and acceptable limits. For transfer-printed or laminated products, also evaluate changes after processing. We recommend validating an approval sample and recording test and acceptance requirements before bulk supply.

Do you share fastness and pilling results?

Provide the fabric code, colour and required standards and grades for washing, rubbing, light fastness or pilling. We can confirm available information and testing arrangements. Product descriptions such as “high colour fastness” or “anti-pilling” do not replace a test report under a specified method. Agree on samples, test conditions and acceptance criteria before bulk supply.

Which finishes can you apply?

Functional specifications vary by fabric code. Examples include moisture-wicking and antibacterial properties on ZT555 mesh, yellowing resistance on PSHK2678, a C0 water-repellent finish on PSZ2617 and UPF 40+ on FD001-500 arm-sleeve fabric. Some properties come from yarn or construction and others from finishing; share performance and wash-durability targets so feasibility can be assessed.

Are your fabrics suitable for sublimation printing?

Selected fabrics are suitable. Several white polyester-spandex fabrics, including ZT555, ZT717-1 and PSHK2678, list digital transfer printing. Confirm the fabric code, then trial your intended temperature, dwell time, pressure and artwork to check colour, dimensions and stretch. Nylon-spandex fabrics, dark substrates and laminates should not automatically use standard polyester sublimation settings.

Can I get a technical data sheet for each fabric?

Product pages provide core specifications by fabric code, including composition, width, weight, colour, functions and recommended uses. Send us your selected codes to confirm the information needed. If you require a separate PDF data sheet or reports on stretch recovery, shrinkage, colour fastness, UPF or waterproof/breathability performance, list those requirements so availability and scope can be confirmed.

Can we request a custom weight and colour?

You can submit custom colour and weight requirements. Selected laminates, including PSZ2617 and PSZ2620, list custom colours on request; weight changes need assessment against construction, yarns and laminate structure. Please provide the fabric code or reference swatch, target weight and tolerance, colour reference, expected quantity and timing. Feasibility, MOQ, cost and lead time are confirmed for each proposal.

Can you develop a fabric that is not in the catalogue?

Submit requirements for a fabric outside the current catalogue for GARVETTI to assess suitable sourcing or development options. Describe the garment and panel, target composition, weight, width, handfeel, stretch, printing and functional needs, and include a reference swatch where possible. Feasibility, sampling costs, MOQ and timing are confirmed by project.
